Find and count familiar objects to practise careful one-to-one counting up to 20.

Instructions

Choose a safe area and ask the child to find a given number of one familiar object, starting with a number between 5 and 10. Place each object in the basket while saying one number for each object. Count the complete group together, touching or moving each item once. Repeat with a different object or a number up to 20. Finish by asking how the child checked the total.
